Ken's Notebook

Nails (1992)

Rating: ★☆☆☆☆
Screen: Projector Wall (Maverick Movie Night)

My personal opinion is that this is a boring piece of crap that, apart from a few scenes, can’t even be enjoyed ironically.

From the other side of the fence, I give you Michel from Montréal:

I want you to view it and not listen those who are turning down such a thriller. I have seen thousands of movies and this is in the top 10%. He is in shape and when he runs, you really feel he hates the mobs. He also comes out is residence naked running after another mob! There is action all the time. You have to be spoiled at an unseen level to feel cheap-mind in turning down such good classic movie of good and bad with a spicy outraged cop! Every movie of that caliber merits some attention and a more balanced judgment. Have a good time fellows! xx xx xx xx xx xx

Alienator (1989)

Rating: ★★★☆☆
Screen: Projector Wall (Maverick Movie Night)

The acting is terrible, the special effects are laughable, and the only likable characters are two hillbillies who get vaporized before the third act. In short, excellent bad movie night fodder.

The Slumber Party Massacre (1982)

Rating: ★★★☆☆
Screen: Projector Wall (Maverick Movie Night)

This was a pretty weird slasher movie, and I think Wikipedia just told me why:

Written by author and feminist activist Rita Mae Brown, the film was intended as a parody of the Slasher film. Producers filmed it not as a parody, but a straight genre film.

Which was a fantastic decision, in my opinion. Good start to Maverick Movie Night Season 2.
